With a simple, folded, two-dimensional pattern I created three reductive bags of different sizes with various functions. The smallest holds an iphone, the medium a 13” macbook and the largest is a large clutch bag. Each is uniform in construction, but with altered scale and proportions. Each fits inside the next size up, for easy storage. The bags are made from super durable sofa upholstery fabric, and are unlined so as to demonstrate their utilitarian, repurposed material.

This is a selection of objects fabricated from inexpensive materials found at a DIY store. Light fittings, various concretes, grout dye and sheets of copper-hued metal have been turned into functional household items.

They admit the truth of their unglamorous materiality – in contrast to the trend of expensive and contrived industrial-looking household objects, which aim to conceal their mass-produced nature. These DIY materials, here, retain their DIY aesthetic.

This humble set up arose from a critical look at the bedroom and its purpose, stripped back to its essential functions. I don't see why I need a bed frame and 2x bedside tables - my boyfriend and I have a mattress on the floor and a stack of magazines each. The, unobtrusive, low profile of these objects means they hardly interfere with the space, providing the calm and clarity to drift off to sleep. Plus, the male and female editions of COS magazine create the perfect his n hers nightstands.

In the future I dream of having a separate walk-in-wardrobe and bedroom. Although it seems a shame to divide up space, I would like my bedroom to be just that - a bed in a room. This pared-back bed room will also be a laptop-free zone (something I definitely do not enforce in my current sleep area), allowing me to drift off without distraction from anything, not possessions, not furniture, not the internet.

These still lives feature sheets of steel, bent and twisted in order to produce various textures. A uniform silver tone, allows the shapes to take centre stage in a play of light and form.
